I’m a superhero CNA by day and super mom by night. These last few months have been nothing short of a nightmare working in an LTC facility.
Witnessing some of my residents pass away that I cared for over the years is a pain I cannot shake. I’ve read articles and watched the news of medical professionals stressing the importance of staying mentally grounded during these hard times, but who would have thought how hard that would really be when you’re looking in the eyes of adversity?
As I sat to assist a patient with a meal in an isolation room, a sense of calm came over me as I heard the radio play classic 80’s music. “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey. It was a reassurance and push to keep on believing that this too shall pass.
